I like you have a great deal of respect for Mr. Parker and his writing, however I personally did not find this wine very enjoyable. A price of $9.99 would not change this opinion. On the other hand, I did thoroughly enjoy this same producers’ Earthquake Zin. In fact, it was one of my favorite wines of 2009.
BTW, thank you for sharing these impressive production numbers. It certainly shows that others enjoy this wine. I am usually a fan of Lodi Zins, are there any that you would like to recommend that I try?

The 2007 7 deadly received a 90 from Parker. I personally know the Lodi region and would agree that $20 was way too much to pay when it goes for 13.99 and 9.99 one offs now and again.

And by the way they use way more than 7 growers. This program has grown since 2005 from 250K cases to 750K. They absolutely have more than 7 growers now.

Thanks for your input. You and I are certainly on opposite sides of the fence with this wine, and that’s okay. I don’t know who or what you’re referring to when you say the “majority”, but I’m personally ok with being in the minority on this one. After tasting this producer’s amazing Earthquake Zin, I didn’t think that their 2007 7 Deadly Zins would be worlds apart, with only a few dollars separating them. For now, I think I’ll just stick with the likes of Four Vines, Rosenblum, and Seghesio. Regarding looking at prices online – I don’t live in a state that allows direct shipment to consumers, so I don’t bother to look at prices on line. Finally, I write about my personal experience with each particular wine in a passionate and completely honest manner. If the description has come across as “histrionic” rather than constructive, then so be it. With that said, I am neither a wine critic nor a wine maker, and I’m not trying to tell winemakers how to make their wine better, I just communicate whether I like something or not. People can agree, disagree, or just ignore.

Your opinion is definitely in the minority. So is the price you paid for it. A quick glance on line will reveal plenty of 7...Zins at $13-15. "Fake," "manufactured," and "mad scientist in a lab," are comments which are more histrionic than constructive. The only valuable point from your "review" is not to buy it at "$20 bucks (your redundancy) a pop." But as already mentioned, you don't have to be a wine critic to figure that out.
